Spring has really burst into life in the last couple of days. Found another 5 probable song thrush/blackbird nests in various stages of construction, including these 2 pictured:
Blackbird nest I think

Early stage of song thrush nest (or maybe just a few random twigs!)

And a song thrush nest found yesterday now contains first egg of 2015! I saw her on the nest this morning - she was obviously laying!
Saw my first (British) chiffchaff of 2015 and a male LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER in the middle of the wood getting bothered by a nuthatch.

Saw a pair of nuthatches investigating a nest hole.

Flushed a pair of mandarin ducks from the stream.

Lots of buzzards performing aerobatics in the area - there are so many nowadays its impossible to know whats going on regarding pairs and territories! At this rate they will have about half an acre per pair!
