Saw a buzzard stood on a possible nest in the wood this evening. Another pair are nesting just outside the wood.

Goldcrests nest building in ivy on trunk of oak tree. Blackbird nest ringed on 12th now empty, hopefully the first fledged chicks of the year.

Have found about 42 thrush nests so far in the wood this year, of which at least 19 have already failed!

Ringed 2 stock dove chicks (pictured) in a box on the edge of the wood. Saw a wren lining a nest - first wren nest I've found this year, and a male blackcap with nest material.

Saw a speckled wood butterfly today.

Mistle thrush and goldcrest nests both predated. Think I've found the replacement mistle thrush nest nearby - empty at the moment.

Ringed 3 song thrush chicks and 3 blackbird chicks today - first 2 ringed broods of the year.

Saw buzzard sat in nest (made last year) just outside the wood.

Saw a swallow at the nearby farm and heard a willow warbler singing on the edge of the wood.

Saw some orange tip butterflies and a pair of blackcaps.

Saw my first (male) blackcap. Saw a couple of stock doves fighting over a nest box.

Appear to be some small stock dove chicks in a box just outside the wood. Heard first blackcap singing. Saw first brimstone butterflies of the year. Saw the local buzzard pair mating just outside the wood.

Saw first peacock and comma butterflies in the wood.
