Saw a couple of Roe Deer and a female Sparrowhawk in the wood today. One of the deer was so frightened by a load of hounds in the wood that it suddenly appeared very near to me as I was putting up a nestbox on the edge of the wood.

Saw a Grey Heron in a field being ploughed near the wood. Decent roost of Rooks and Jackdaws in the wood late afternoon - maybe a thousand birds but could be quite a lot more, hard to tell.
Thursday, 22 January 2015
Saw a male Peregrine calling, flying about and stooping at something on or near the ground, a few hundred yards NE of the wood. Had a look around where it had been stooping but didn't see anything.

Ravens in wood again today.
Saw the male LSW again by the stream - it called briefly before flying off.
Saw a marsh tit singing, and the male bullfinch again calling at the top of the wood.
